Corsair mouse double-clicking? How to test and fix it

Updated October 2, 2026

Your Corsair mouse registers two clicks when you press once – double shots in games, files opening on a single click, drag-and-drop letting go. Here's how to confirm it and what actually fixes it.

Why Corsair mice double-click

Corsair mice such as the M65, Harpoon, Sabre, Ironclaw and Dark Core use mechanical micro switches under the main buttons. With wear, dust or oxidation, the metal contact starts to bounce and a single press is sent as two clicks. It's the same fault seen on many brands – not something you're doing wrong.

Step 1: confirm it with the test

Open the double-click test and click slowly, one click at a time, 30–50 times with the faulty button. Red bars mean phantom double clicks – the switch is bouncing. Then check the other buttons with the mouse button test.

Record the red bars on video – useful for a warranty claim.

Step 2: rule out settings

  • Corsair iCUE: open your mouse, check the active profile and the on-board (hardware) profiles, and make sure the left button is "Left click" – not a macro, "double click" or remapped action.
  • Button response / debounce: some newer Corsair mice have a setting in iCUE (in the device settings) that controls how quickly button presses are accepted. If yours has it, increasing the value can hide light bouncing.
  • Windows: make sure File Explorer opens items with a double click and ClickLock is off – see our general double-click guide.
  • Update: update iCUE and install any firmware update it offers.

Step 3: quick fixes

  1. Compressed air. Short bursts under the faulty button while pressing it, then press the button firmly 50–100 times. This can clear oxidation from the contacts for a while.
  2. Another port or computer. Plug it directly into the computer and try a second PC. If the double clicks follow the mouse, it's the switch.
  3. Wireless models: charge the mouse and keep the USB receiver close. Weak signal rarely causes double clicks, but it rules out interference.

Step 4: warranty

Corsair mice come with a limited warranty, commonly two years – check the exact term for your model and region on Corsair's support site. Open a support ticket with your serial number, proof of purchase and the short video of the double-click test; replacements for this fault are common.

Step 5: replace the switch

Out of warranty, replacing the micro switch is a cheap, permanent fix for anyone who can solder, or for a repair shop. Open the mouse – screws are usually under the feet – and swap the faulty switch for a matching one, such as an Omron D2F-series or Kailh GM switch. Check the size and pin layout of the original before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Can iCUE fix a double-clicking Corsair mouse?

Only partly. iCUE can rule out macros and remapping, and on models with a button response setting it can hide light bouncing. A badly worn switch still needs cleaning, replacing or a warranty claim.

Why does my Corsair mouse double-click only sometimes?

Switch bounce often starts intermittently – it comes and goes with dust, humidity and how hard you press. Keep the double-click test open while you use the mouse; the red bars show exactly when it happens.

Is it safe to open my Corsair mouse?

Yes, if you're careful, but it usually voids the warranty and peeling off the feet can damage them. Use the warranty first if you still have it.
